Re: SV: [Evolution] Re: addressbook sucks

Thanks,
I was looking for multisync in Evolution.
I'm compiling it now.

Try www.multisync.org ...

Copy files is not enought since Evo holds alot of info in Gconf as
well.
Search the archives and You will find plenty of info on how to
"backup" Your system (or move it).

Multisync? I couldn't find that.
I'm using 2.2.1.1

I thought since I could keep the mail files, I should be able to keep
my
addressbook files also. I copied them to a disc, and copied those
files
to my new machine's /.evolution/addressbook/local/system/
Acutally, thinking about it, I just copied addressbook.db and not the
summary. I thought the new system would build it's own summary, it
seems
like it did somewhat since those contacts weren't visible immediately.
Now, my contacts screen is full, but Evolution still says it's empty.

I should've been more descriptive.
I have a contact screen full of contacts that I had backed up on
disk
visible in the screen, but the addressbook according to Evolution,
like
when you create a new message and hit the "To:" button, the
addressbook
is blank. I'm also unable to add a new contact either through
right-clicking received mail addresses or adding through the
contact
screens. Could it be a permission issue? Bad file?

I can't find the context for the above - what did you back up and to
where? the To: button works here and for everyone afaik.

I really say Evolution sucks because you have a dialog to import,
but
not to export, so you can use it on other machines, etc.

a) multisync syncs to other machines
b) evolution-addressbook-export
