[Evolution] Junk (Spam) Filtration broken

Hello,

Having trouble here with the Junk filtration ... used to work fine upon
installation, but now I get the stuff unfiltered dumped into my inboxes
(despite the "Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences->Junk->Check incoming
mail for Junk" and "Edit->Preferences->Mail Preferences->Junk->Include
Remote Tests" being checked). I'm constantly giving the engine plenty of
"Mark as Junk" exercise - to no avail ...

I'm using 2.2.2 on a Debian unstable system. Is there anything else I
have to have installed to get this working?

Any hints of where to look for broken parts are highly welcome ...
