Hello,
I have the same problem. And the solution I'm using is changing them
manually. It's so terrible ...
As for the address book in evolution, it does have an exporting
function built in, which can convert the contacts of evolution to
vcard format. Since vcard format is a standard one, it is the
mozilla/thunderbird's responsiblities to be able to import vcards.

Hi,
I just imported an ldif contacts list from Thunderbird into Evolution and I
find that some of the fields like "address" and "city" are missing. I think
the problem lies in Evolution's importer. It's failing to map some fields in
the file to the address book. The following solutions are feasible:
Creating a gui importing mapper like in Thunderbird. It lists all the fields
in the contact list file and Thunderbird's address book and asks the user to
map the corresponding fields.
Creating program(s) that will adapt contact list of various other clients to
the current Evolution importer.
Modifying the importer itself to accommodate address books from other
clients (If the importer doesn't support Thunderbird address books, it's
hard to imagine what other client it supports!) NOTE: The importer is
obviously not built to support it's own address book formats because it
doesn't support exporting address either. It has a program called
evolution-exporter or something in the install dir which outputs addresses
as vcards to stdout, remotely useful with the print feature around.
Is it impossible to export as a file like ldif presently? 'cos if it were,
I can atleast create a test contact and export it to see the fields and
modify my ldif accordingly so it can atleast import properly...
Regards,
Ram
