Re: Clicking 'Tasks' defeat Evolution! What to do?

Likely this is
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=317283

The key item with work-arounds is:

libgal2.4 version 2.4.2-1 (etch's) is buggy.
But libgnomecanvas2-0 version 2.8.0-1 (sarge's) did not use libgal2.4,
that's why the bug disappeared when downgrading.

Also, if you have libgnomecanvas2-0 version 2.10 (etch and sid's),
and libgal2.4 version 2.4.3-1 (sid's), it works fine.

So, the work-arounds for this bug are:
* downgrade libgnomecanvas2-0 to sarge's version (2.8.0-1)
* upgrade libgal2.4 to sid's version (2.4.3-1).

Once libgal2.4 2.4.3-1 has entered etch, you can have an up-to-date etch
without this bug.

However, if you are pure sarge you shouldn't be seeing the new, buggy library, so your problem may lie
elsewhere.

A week ago I was running Evolution, in newly installed Debian GNU Linux
3.1 Sarge, when on my try to find out what "Tasks" does, by clicking on
that button, Evolution crashed. It's been crashing ever since, about
five seconds after I start it , despite my efforts to encourage it not
to be shy. This is a specific problem because Mozilla, for example,
opens Evolution when one seeks to send some e-mail to its lists.
Meanwhile, thank Mozilla for Thunderbird.
