I cannot get the attached message from the spamassassin mailing list opened. No big deal since it is from a mailing list. My question is why does Evolution crash every time that I try to open this message. Is this a bug in Evolution?
I received the very same message from the SA mailing list. No problem here, displays fine. Attached are the differences between your and my copy of the message. The only disturbing difference is the bogus ">" char before the "From" in the first line. However, I even checked your message. Using my IMAP server, the message as is (with the bogus ">") isn't displayed correct [1]. Due to the bogus char as it seems, cause removing this single char makes your message being displayed just fine. Trying to display your message as is (with the bogus ">") using the local POP3 Inbox does not display the message at all. Not even mentioned in the mail list. Dropping the ">" again displays fine. Evo never crashed for me during my tests. How are you getting mails? What software is involved in that process? Where does that char come from? ...guenther [1] kind of source view inside a header generated by my IMAP server... -- char *t="\10pse\0r\0dtu\0 ghno\x4e\xc8\x79\xf4\xab\x51\x8a\x10\xf4\xf4\xc4"; main(){ char h,m=h=*t++,*x=t+2*h,c,i,l=*x,s=0; for (i=0;i<l;i++){ i%8? c<<=1: (c=*++x); c&128 && (s+=h); if (!(h>>=1)||!t[s+h]){ putchar(t[s]);h=m;s=0; }}}
