This issue is more serious, as not only special chars like the mentioned
square brackets are affected. At least on my German keyboard the
*numbers* 8 and 9 are affected as well.

Dan, unlike your bug, mine is marked as RESOLVED FIXED. And with
Michaels comment, this indeed seems to be fixed in recent devel
versions. However, this bug is still valid in latest 1.4.6 stable
snapshot.

Jeff, can you confirm your patch was only for 1.5.x?
