Re: [Evolution] Evolution and PGP/GPG signature

Hi,

there are 2 ways of using PGP.
the old style is PGP/Inline, which is what you posted below.

The new way is PGP/Mime (attachment)

A PGP/Mime compliant MUA like Evolution doesn't show you the asc.
instead it shows the PGP Information on the bottom.

AFAIK is PGP/Inline not implemented in Evolution (yet?)

PGP/Mime has some advantages over the old PGP/Inline...
If you crypt your Email PGP/Mime your Attachments are crypted, too.
With PGP/Inline the Mail Text is encrypted but not the Attachment.
AFAIK this is the main difference.

PGP/Inline is mainly used in the windows world, cause the windows MUAs
lack support for plugins. The sad thing is that Microsoft hasn't
implemented and will not implement PGP/Mime in the near future.

The seem to use S/Mime instead!?

Correct me if I'm wrong ...

Hope that helps,

Hello the list

I use the Evolution mail client on a Debian PC. I installed GPG and I
would like to sign my e-mails.

But when I sign them, the GPG signature is embedded in a .asc file
rather than in the header/footer of the e-mail like this :

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE-----
Version: PGP 8.1

prOtk3riatCuB0Pa+ElAFGU9qI/KnmboU9JNh70jbnz0GNis1hmydg==
=aPvL
-----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

And I search a way to verify the signatures like above with Evolution.

Thank you in advance for your help

Best regards

Stephane
