Re: [Evolution] Adressbook in 1.5.6

Do you have a GNOME_Evolution_DataServer_1.0.server file anywhere? If
you have the path that contains that file listed in b-a-s's search path,
you might want to kill it before running e-d-s.

Should the address book be functional 1.5.6?

Most definitely.

On my test box I get
** (evolution-1.5:12924): CRITICAL **: file e-canvas.c: line 584
(e_canvas_item_grab_focus): assertion `GTK_WIDGET_CAN_FOCUS (GTK_WIDGET
(item->canvas))' failed

`OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_SelectNames:1.5(evolution-1.5:12924): EBook-CRITICAL **: file
eab-book-util.c: line 85 (eab_name_and_email_query): assertion `book && E_IS_BOOK (book)' failed

(evolution-1.5:12924): libebook-WARNING **: Can't find installed
BookFactory that handles protocol 'file'.

This means the bonobo-activation query failed. This means that either
the .server file wasn't installed properly, or the b-a-s search path
doesn't include the directory that contains the .server file.

Chris
What creates/installs the .server file?

How can I check the b-a-s search path?

$prefix/sbin/bonobo-activation-sysconf --display-directories

if it shows nothing, it's only configured to look for .server files in
$prefix/lib/bonobo/servers.

You can also try starting e-d-s from the command line - it'll tell you
if it can't register with b-a-s for any reason.

Chris
No Joy yet, I added every directory slocate found a .server in.

Bonobo-activation configuration file contains:
    /usr/share/doc/gnome-python2-nautilus-2.0.0/nautilus/
    /usr/share/epic/
    /usr/lib/python2.2/site-packages/Ft/Share/Data/Servers/
    /usr/lib/bonobo/servers

[tazman tarkus tazman]$ /usr/libexec/evolution-data-server-1.0
evolution-data-server-Message: Starting server

But I am learning a lot :-)

Saw on old post reffering to somehting simillar.

[tazman tarkus tazman]$ bonobo-moniker-xmldb

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

Should their be more output from this?

Thanks for all your help.

Ted
