Re: [Evolution] Memory Leaks in 1.4.4.

No, but where in your email message or pictures did you claim such a thing?

But should it consistently grow to use almost all system memory, at the expense of other applications.

Well its quite possible this isn't a memory leak ...

If you just startup and do nothing, its using the minimum memory possible.  If you filter new mail, it might open new folders - causing memory usage to peak at a higher level.  Even if these folders are later freed it wont show up in top (top merely shows the virtual memory space allocated, not the actual heap usage).

And the same goes for just running the checking mail process.

We need more information.

e.g.
what sort of mail accounts do you have
Exchange, and Maildir
are they checking mail automatically, and how often
Every 5 minutes
how much new mail did you receive in that time
About 200 messages across accounts
after the first snapshot was taken, did you use evolution at all, e.g. open folders
was the first snapshot taken as soon as evo started, or after you'd been using it some
etc.
Just opened, no usage

I have Evolution 1.4.4 and I believe it has a major memory leak.

If you go to
http://mars-tmc.hq.themunicenter.com/ I have screenshots showing the memory footprint last night after a clean reboot of the system. Then this morning With ONLY evolution running over night.

I have also left the machine running with only metacity/panel et. al. running overnight with no appreciable memory creep.
