so its set for DN type auth, and
<binddn>dc=DOMAIN,cn=username</binddn>
contains a DN
That DN format looks pretty suspect.. you sure you don't want
cn=username,dc=DOMAIN?
but my ldap bind-request packet doesn't contain a DN or a Password (both
fields are null, checked with ethereal).
the ldap backend binds twice - first using NULL/NULL (anonymous), which
shouldn't really be necessary, and then again using the user's
binddn/passwd.
