Is there a way to get the latest stable version of Evolution without
using their Ximian installer program?
I am trying to download the latest Evo for RH 8.0 and the installer is
unable to conenct to the appropriate server.
If all you want is Evolution, and XD2, then the simplest way is to
install Red Carpet. (N.B. if you want XD2 then you must use the
installer, installing XD2 *just* by installing the RPMs won't work.)
First, use up2date to make sure your system has all the latest stuff
from Red Hat.
Go here:
ftp://ftp.ximian.com/pub/redcarpet/redhat-80-i386/
and download the latest versions of rcd and red-carpet and install them.
Then start Red Carpet, subscribe to the Evolution channel only, and then
select a mirror near you.
