[Evolution] Pipe message through shell command as filter action ?

While evolution's filters will let me "Pipe message to shell command" as
part of it's "if..." criterion testing, the "shell command" available as
part of the "Then" actions doesn't seem to have the message piped to it
(or to have any command line arguments supplied e.g a file containing
the message).

This doesn't seem to be very useful.  Am I missing something ?

[I'm using Evolution 1.2.4]
