Do you have the correct mime-settings for pdf?

If you dont have it, install the gnome-control-center and change the
"File types and programs" under Advanced.

You should do "Add File Type", Mime type application/pdf, extension and
as "Program to run" your favorit pdf viewer.

You should also set a icon. If all is correct this icon will be
displayed from evo for the attached pdf.

Hope this helps,
Armin Bauer

Subject: [Evolution] confused on how to accomplish some things...

Hi,
I'm using Ximian's gnome desktop now(on SuSE8.2) and trying to use
evolution with my palm (old IIIxe). I'm used to using jpilot and
sylpheed and there are some things that I'm having trouble with now with
the Evolution palm situation...

1) How do I get my group names for a contact to synch? Am I some how
supposed to use the "categories" feature of Evolution to make a contact
in a particular group? If so, will this synch as a group name for my
contact in my palm? I'm trying to figure out how to organize contacts in
Evolution. In my palm I have contacts in groups (family, work, church,
etc.) but I can't seem to get these groups for my contacts to transfer
to evolution.

2) Related to the above, are you supposed to use "categories" to mark a
contact in or is it better to make a new contact folder for a particular
group? The problem with making a new contacts folder is I don't see an
easy way to quickly add a contact to this group from an email. The only
way I see to do it is to go to the main contacts list where you just
added the contact and then copy the contact to the new folder then go
back and delete the contact from the main folder. Seems very awkward so
there must be a better way to organize contacts. (Also, I don't think a
sub-contacts folder synchs with the palm).

3) This might be related to my conduit build for SuSE8.2, but I can not
seem to get the memos to synch at all. I downloaded the gnome-conduits
package, but if I enable the memoFile conduit and try to synch I get an
"unrecognized conduit" error.

Thanks for any help with the above.

El problema con ese aspell es que aparentemente no funciona con la versión
1.4 del Evolution.

Important note for users of non-English languages: our gnome-spell1.0
packages for Red Hat Linux 8.0 and Red Hat Linux 9 don't work with the
aspell-$LANG packages provided by Red Hat. This is because the
version of gnome-spell1.0 used by Evolution requires an updated aspell
which is not compatible with the aspell-$LANG packages that come with
those versions of Red Hat Linux Consequently, updated packages from
Ximian will be needed to get spell checking to work in Evolution 1.4
under Red Hat Linux 8.0 and Red Hat Linux 9 for languages other than
English. These packages are not yet available, but packages for
several languages should be released quite soon, and others are in the
works.

Right now, I have spell checking for both languages (English and
Spanish) but, the Spanish support, is from aspell-es-0.50-2.tar.bz2
(installed from tarball, "not" rpm). When I installed Evo, I could not
found any rpm of version 0.50 for RedHat and I'm to lazy to build one
myself ... ;-)
I'm using RedHat 8.0 with KDE 3.0.5a as main desktop and Evo 1.4.0
(installed by redCarpet with all basic dependencies).

Best regards to you all

Evolution dioesn't know anything about CUPS or printing, it just uses
libgnomeprint, so if that loads all printers on a network then there's
nothing we can do about it.

Thanks for your response Jeff, my problem is that evolution crashes
when I try to print, but if I turn off polling in CUPS, then I am fine,
but do not have access to any printers. Of course this was not a
problem in 1.2.4.

Tig, this has been the cause of some harsh words here in this list. Some
people are particularly sensitive to the phrase below, so we should use
caution. Everything used to work on 1.2.x, but nobody can say it in public
:-)

Cheers.

Of course this was not a problem in 1.2.4.

right, so submit a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org under the
libgnomeprint module (or gnome-cups if it exists)
