how do you keep track of own postings and replies to that on
maillinglists. i have the problem, that i filter maillinglists (i'm
subscribed to a whole lot of them) into different folders, and therefore
don't see replies onto them without oping that folder and doing a search
and activating threading. as my memory is limited this can be
troublesome.
Actually reading the mails, thus identifying new mails is easy. Mails
sent by me are marked with Label "personal" (green). I always use
threading, recent dates are at the top and not interesting mails/threads
get deleted.
Besides that, there is a local archive for some of my mailing lists.

besides the tip to color own postings (vfoldering works for me):
but i dont want to search in several folders for mails answering my
mails. it would be great to have a kind of filter that triggers on my
postings AND the threads they are in. i dont know if something is
possible, and if that would be too expensive (cpucycles, development,
supprt the code,...) and is desired by enough users.
maybe a possibility to "jump" from a mail in a vfolder to the original
folder would be enough.
