Having a very heterogenous IT environment spread across several
countries we are trying to define an ldap schema which will provide all
the basic information about an individual or office one would normally
expect (using rfc standard object classes).
At the same time, we need this eventual schema to be usable (and
editable for people) via Evolution (which, I am happy to say will
become our standard mail client), Outlook/Entourage, and the Mac
Mail/AddressBook/iCal trio (though Evo on OSX will be a long term
goal... I have 1.0.7 running on this laptop now... =} Just noticed the
message about 1.2.1 so will compile via fink tomorrow).
I'd be interested in what other people are using and discussing this if
at all possible. The interoperability issue seems to be a big one for
some things and I'd be interested in how it would be possible to have
arbitrary fields included in the 'notes' sections of most address book
applications without using non-rfc standard schemas (for us for things
like people's competencies, start date, projects, spoken languages
etc.). We are also interested in getting iCal working so.... =}
ciao !
Daryl.
