If the feature is "dubious" and is likely to cause more harm/confusion
than good then its better not to have it - especially in open source
software, where those people that really need it - can create a patch
for themselves and others that want that feature.
Maybe including every feature that everyone wants is a great idea... my
next bug report will be to file for a feature that cleans my kitchen
sink ... oh wait, xemacs already does that :-)

Again, NOT a reason to not include a feature. You just tell them, and
include in a FAQ, that they made the decision to activate the feature.
Just because YOU wouldn't use the feature is not a reason to support its
non-inclusion.
