Any info on using spamassassin with evolution that breaks it down for
non-techies?

You'd have to use Spamassassin in combination with procmail (would then
be independant of any smtp server - but it would have to be in
co-operation with your sysadmin - info at www.spamassassin.org), or in
combination with a mail (smtp) server such as Exim, in which case you'd
have to be a mailadmin and most *definitely* a techie :-(

In the new version of evolution (1.2) i believe you can run "external
programs" from filters, so you would need to:

  * Setup a filter that ran all mail via an external
    program (namely spamassasin)

  * Filter based on the results (i filter on the subject
containing *** SPAM ***) but filtering on the 'X-Spam-Flag: YES'
    is probably a better idea...

simran.

The good news is, that Spamassassin (version 2.50 and higher) is
definitely worth becoming a techie for, so good is it :-)

Best,

Tony
