[Evolution] using arrow up/down in preview pane, not message list

In trying evolution 1.0, I set up the mail reader to show the mail 
messages in the Preview Pane. However, I expect to be able to use the 
cursor "up-arrow" and "down-arrow" to scroll through the message. 
However, these keys move the message view window to the next (or 
previous) message.

How can I keep the 'n' and 'p' keys for message number navigation and 
use up-arrow/down-arrow for message conten navigation?
