[Evolution] LDAP problem in 1.0.2

Hi,

I recently compiled Evolution 1.0.2 from the source at
red-carpet.ximian.com.  I compiled it with support for LDAP and dynamic
linking.   My laptop is running Debian Woody with 2.4.17.

I think I did everything right.  I had made sure to get the latest GAL,
gtkhtml, etc. etc.

Compilation occurred without any error.  I am using sasl2 and openldap
2.0.14.

Evolution starts and runs just fine.  However, when I access the Address
book and try to find a person in Bigfoot or Verisign, it just sits there
after I click to proceed to find the matches.

Did I do something wrong?  Does Evolution not like to be linked dynamically
with openldap?  Am I using a bad version of openldap?  Any pointers?  Thanks
