Ed Weinberg (edw q5comm com) had this to say on 12/13/02 at 11:14:
This is not the first time I have heard this, but it is from the most credible source. I send gpg signed email to a friend and Outlook told him that it was deleting the email because it had a dangerous attachment. Can anyone verify that Outlook, with the latest updates, does or does not do this?
Outlook has been blocking "dangerous" attachments for many months now; it's the Outlook Email Security Patch. It's deleting the email since Outlook is broken in regard to PGP/GPG (attachment) signatures; it turns the *body* into an attachment, so they get a blank email with 2 attachments, instead of a body with 1 attachment. And so when it deletes unsafe attachments, there's nothing left of the message. Check <http://www.slipstick.com> for methods of getting around the patch. -- PGP Fingerprint: 0AA8 DC47 CB63 AE3F C739 6BF9 9AB4 1EF6 5AA5 BCDF Member, LEAF Project <http://leaf.sourceforge.net> AIM: MikeLeone Public Key - <http://www.mike-leone.com/~turgon/turgon-public-key.asc> Registered Linux user# 201348 Boom diddy diddy, Boom diddy do Queen
