Re: [Evolution] Folders order

Oke, the problem is an evironment.
The situation is:
BoxA: Windows with X terminal
BoxB: A random RedHat installation
BoxC: A RedHat installation with evolution (no screen attached)

When i use boxA evolution will be started with an REXEC on boxC.
When i use boxB, it will connect with ssh to boxC (with X11 forwarding)
and than evolution is started.

When i use boxA, make a connection to boxC with putty (also with X11
forwarding) than the folders are sorted the same way as from boxB :)

(from boxB, ssh to boxC and set the DISPLAY by hand (without X11
forwaring) it gave the same result as normal connection from boxB)

So this the problem is the environment is different between a RECEX and
a ssh. Oke, first part of the problem solved :)

Now i have to find out what is different between environment, and what
setting causes this change.

The environment is is specified by the linux box in both cases, heh is
just using windows as an X terminal. What probably is happening is that
the linux box is setting a different locale based on how you are logging
in. If you are logging in through gdm/xdm/kdm when sitting at the
console and it is probably setting the locale for you, and if you are
ssh'ing and setting DISPLAY by hand when on the windows box, the locale
is probably not being set to the same value. Without knowing the exact
setup it is difficult to know where exactly the difference is coming
from.

Evolution does not get these preferences from its config file, it gets
them from the environment - and it seems that the Windows environment is
not the same as the Linux environment.

Jeff.
But there is only 1 evolution. Or does save evolution settings based on
where teh DISPLAY shell variable is set?

If you need more help, let us know a little more about your setup.
