[Evolution] Don't edit that Mail config file!

Hello,

On build 2001.03.27.09.06 there is peculiar a peculiar thing with the
Mail Settings selection.

If one goes into the Mail Settings, and then flips through the tabs and
then hits the "Accept or "OK" buttons, then goes back into the "Sending"
Tab, you will find that the string ";auth=PLAIN" has been prefixed onto
the smtp server identification. You can remove this all you like, but
it will come back.

So now I go into the evolution/config folder in my home directory and
manually edit my "Mail" config file to physically remove the offending
string. Start evolution back up and find out it will no longer respond
to the Send/Receive button or the selection from the file menu. Exit
Evo, copy the original Mail config file from Mail.orig to Mail, and
still no Send/Receive response. The only way to get the program to
respond to the Send/Receive command is to delete the Mail account and
put it back. Of course, this once again leads to the offending string
being prefixed to the smtp server identifier so sending no longer works.

Whew! That was long winded! In short, how can I edit this Mail config
file to remove the offending string from the smtp server identifier, and
still get the program to respond to the Send/Receive Button and get
mail?

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

DCM
