Great, that would be wonderful. I think that evolutions should be as open
as possible. Mainly to interact with existing unix applications. And have
open formats so if evolution fails on something some othe application
could read the files and keep on working.

You have to "import" the mail from pine, but otherwise evolution can use
the same mailbox format. This can be as simple as creating a new
folder, and copying the pine folder into its directory as "mbox", and
rerunning evolution.
e.g. make a new folder "Pine"
then cd to ~/evolution/local/Pine
rm mbox.*
cp ~/Mail/somepinefolder ./mbox
rerun evolution.
We hope to have a feature by 1.0 that will let you "visit" pine and
similar folders without having to do this.
