[Evolution] Problem reading from a direct system using mbox...

I have tried all the latest code trying to get Evolutoin to read the
mail from a local account on my machine... No luck... all it says is...
can't create lock on /var/spool/mail/brian ...

please advise... also I was able  to get the same system to work if I
pointed it to loopback and tried pop..
