[Evolution] What are the .ibex files?

I was looking at a local mailfolder (trying to get a look at a mail that
crashes the mail component when accessing the folder), and noticed the
mbox.ibex files. They are quite large (between 100k and 250k in size) and
binary. I just wonder what they are?
