It's the same for me, RH7.1. I've read (on this list I think..) some time ago, that this has to do with a bug in oaf? And that is has been fixed in CVS.

If I'm totaly wrong, please correct me..

Put oaf-slay & in your /etc/X11/gdm/Init/Default, and you should be fine.
