Perhaps this is related to a bug I filed a few days ago:
http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7728
Is there any chance you had focused on the "To" field and hit any keys
by accident (or to add another recipient), then maybe undid your typing?
I doubt you remember now if this happened, but it's very easy to "break"
the connection between names and the contact list so that the Contact's
name is no longer underlined, in which case Evo has completely forgotten
who the person is, and it will not work.

This evening I replied to a message whose sender was in my Contacts.
When I tried to send the message Evo complained that I needed to specify
a recipient, but the recipient was already specified. I deleted it and
retyped the recipient, and then it sent fine. If I replied to a message
whose recipient was not in my Contacts, it didn't complain.
