[Evolution] Some ideas about evolution

For a few weeks I now use Evolution instead of Balsa, and I am
quite satisfied with. Here are some comments:

1. It is possible to let Evolution check for new mail in certain time
intervals. As I have it not constantly running, it would be nice if it
could check for mail on startup.
2. Balsa supports a command line option 'balsa -m mail-address', so that
I can install it as my default handler for the mailto: URL (for sending
mail from with Galeon for example). Evolution should have something like
this too.
3. I don't understand the concept of trash in Evolution. If I delete a
message, it is still visible in the folder, although as strike over. If
I want them to go away, I do an expunge, but then they are completely
lost. Isn't the idea of trash to get rid of message (i.e. not seeing
them anymore, but still available if I happen to think I deleted
wrongly).
4. In the calender, how am I going to get notified of an alarm, if
Evolution isn't running. I want to be able to start an alarmnotifier as
a daemon independently of starting Evolution.
