Check out bug 6855.  I just created it after not seeing anything like it, and nobody in the list telling me that it was an existing problem.  This looks kind of like the back trace I saw.

If it is similar to mine, you should be able to run evolution as root (which I'm doing right now since I can't handle any other Linux emailer since experiencing evolution).
