Hi,
I cannot remember how i managed to over come this (had the same
problem), i know the program 'wombat' is/was responsable for being able
to edit contacts and stuff, its got a nasty habit of not killing itself
of correctly when u close evolution.

The one thing u can try (it may not work,so backup first) is to rename
your evo folder to say evo-original, then as root go into the /tmp
folder and delete anything relating you as a user (also check hidden
folder/files) then log back in and restart evo.

copy all your original folders and xml files back apart from (if u have
them):

addressbook-sources.xml
config (directory)
config.xmldb
evolution/local/Contacts

at least u will only lose you contacts, but as you have backed up the
original folder then can search thru it for the contacts
'evolution/local/Contacts/addressbook.db' or even add the files back to
regain full funtionality.

Hope this helps, it may not, if i find an easier way, i'll let u know

Mark

contacts, it is just that nothing is there and it does not allow me to

great

Depends on the previous version you had installed, as i can remember
something about ximian warning that you will loss (i think it was your
contacts when upgrading to these versions - i may be wrong).

As these new version use evo-db3, so i presume that the contacts are
now
handeled by this instead?

It

I just upgraded from 0.10 to 0.12.99 in evolution and I am having
the
same problem. My Contacts are gone and I cannot add any new
contacts...I tried the db_dump suggestion as mentioned below, but I
received a message that stated "db_load: addressbook.db Invalid
argument" Any other suggestions regarding how to resolve contacts
would
be grateful. By the way kudos to all who are working on this
product,
it is shaping up quite nicely!!

If you backed up the evolution directory before doing upgrade,
then
go
to your backup, grab the addressbook.db file and rename it to
addressbook.db.temp then run this:

db_dump185 addressbook.db.temp | db_load addressbook.db
