[Evolution] Beta 0.12 still has similar start-up problem

Last week, with the 0.11 snapshots on a RH6.2 system, I could get
Evolution to start up as root, however, as user, Evo would throw up a
splash screen in the upper left hand corner, another one in the center
of the display, and then fail with a CORBA exception (see my previous
post for the full error message).

Now, with Evo 0.12, root is OK.  User, however, gets a splash screen in
the upper left hand corner, and then over 34 (yep, thirty-four) attempts
with splash screens in the center of the display before it starts to
generate error sounds, unwind all 34 splash screens and show an error
box reporting itself unable to access the Evolution shell.

Suggestions anyone?
