Re: [Evolution] redcarpet updates

Xav,

Apparently (and maybe someone from ximian could step up to the plate and
get this all straightened out), red-carpet is undergoing some major
improvements. The site is down for a bit (a couple of days atleast) but
when it comes back, it should be back better than ever.

Rumours abound, but it seems that there is a new version of red-carpet
involved in all this, and also it sounds like gnome-1.4 should be
available when it comes back on line.

On a personal note, it's a pain in the arse if you are addicted to using
it, but it's still in beta and if this is to make it better, isn't that
what beta is about.

As an aside, I find it funny that people in the open source community
get so jumpy when software in beta doesn't work. If we got something in
beta from MS we'd be surprised if it worked, but we are so used to
running on software that 0.38 (sawfish) or 0.10 (evolution) or 0.9.2
(red-carpet) that works fantastically, that we forget that the whole
idea of beta is getting it write before you release it, and that we
shouldn't be relying to strongly on anything until it's actually
released.

Hi again !

RedCarpet updates don't work anymore ? When I launch RedCarpet, it reports
an error:
Red Carpet has encountered an error while trying to process your request:

complete: Cannot connect to server: http://red-carpet.ximian.com:8000/channels.xml.gz

... and when I launch helix-update to update RedCarpet, it fails too ...

Am I alone ?
