After seeing this email, I did the same (ran oaf-slay), and now Evo is
nice and speedy, pops up in a second, reply/compose windows pop right
up, lovely!

I am running a 2.4.0 kernel and have installed gnome1.4 beta. Immediately
following the installation of 1.4 I also noticed that evolution took an
age to start up, as did a composer window. After following this thread for
a few days I did an oaf-slay. Bingo, the speed problem was fixed.

Well OK I'm willing to look at anything but how do your explain this:
run 2.2.17
- evo runs fine
reboot to 2.4.2
- evo runs slow
Same machine, same everything, different kernel.
have you looked at other items in the process table. i can assure you
it works fine here, i often have booted into alternate kernsals and it
makes no difference.
