Why not just focus the questions upon plain text?

"In what format do you want to send your emails ?

(o) PLAIN TEXT
( ) HTML
        [ok]

The point is to lead those users who don't know better to something that
makes the rest of the world happy. At the same time, we should make it
easy for those who do know better (or don't in case of HTML-mail) to
make their choice.
