Hi, Requesting your approval for committing the following 3 separate patches, details provided below. -------- Patch #1 -------- Bug : http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324118 Description : Remove IMAP4rev1 from stable releases Package: Evolution-Data-Server Impact : The IMAP4rev1 provider code which was introduced as an experimental alternative for the default IMAP provider has not received any coding/bug fixing love for quite some time and has not received any takers for active maintenance. In this scenario, we want to actively discourage users to continue using this provider as we do not plan to support it in future and there are no migration paths available. Patch #1 makes this IMAP4rev1 a conditional feature which is turned off by default. Patch Author : Harish K. (kharish at novell dot com) Patch Reviewer : Sankar P (psankar at novell dot com) QA verified : Yes. -------- Patch #2 -------- Bug : http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=350250 Description : Show my message list from the cache first Package: Evolution-Data-Server Impact : Evolution (IMAP) fails to read the message list available in the cache and fetches it from the network resulting in a delayed response by the UI in displaying the messages. On large accounts, the user encounters a blank message list for several minutes before the items appear. This is a spoiler for much of the performance gains that have been achieved in this release. This was a side-effect caused by a commit ( refer http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=350250#c2 ) and the mail hackers have decided on reverting this patch. Patch Reviewers : Varadhan V (vvaradhan at novell dot com) Jeffrey Stedfast (fejj at novell dot com) Sankar P (psankar at novell dot com) QA verified : Yes. -------- Patch #3 -------- Bug : http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353763 Description : cannot enter text or edit memo summary field Package: Evolution Impact : Creation/Modification of Personal Memo items in the Local File system rendered impossible as the summary/content widgets are not sensitized. This breaks the feature in its entirety. Patch Author : Chenthill P (pchenthill at novell dot com) Patch Reviewer : Harish K. QA verified : Yes. Note: Patch #3 has been accidentally committed before this request was mailed. My sincere apologies on behalf of the team - I will ensure this gets reverted prior to the release, should the request be turned down. I will be reachable by mail or in IRC #evolution for any clarifications. Thanks, Harish
