Alain, I just tried it here with evince and I get the following info:
evince mercre.pdf
Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
Error: Couldn't find trailer dictionary
Error: Couldn't read xref table
Error: PDF file is damaged - attempting to reconstruct xref table...
Error: Couldn't find trailer dictionary
Error: Couldn't read xref table
I'm using evince 3.4.0 on linux.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Can you help me,
I have one pdf (ghostscript, mupdf and acrobat reader can read without any
error or warning) but evince cannot do (windows evince version 2.32.0.156)
I have this message “Unable to open document” “PDF Document is damaged”.
This pdf is result of conversion %PDF-1.4 to %PDF-1.5 by one of my program.
Thank you
Alain Renaud
