[evince] proxy authentication

Readers,

Sometimes, pdf documents stored on a web server are accessed by the
command terminal:

evince http://www.path.to.a.document.pdf

Via a proxy connection to the internet, this doesn't work, even though
system-wide proxy settings are applied:

** (evince:4962): WARNING **: HTTP Error: Proxy Authentication
Required ( Forefront TMG requires authorization to fulfill the
request. Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied.  )

How to resolve please?
