does it happen with any document? it looks like an issue in the document
itself.

yes, this is a known issue with documents that have pages of different
sizes. Could you please file a bug report in bugzilla.gnome.org
attaching this document there?

hmm, double click is already used for word selection.

Yep, double click on the pdf page selects words, but normally, most of the pdf have free space (area) , on each side of the pdf page, in normal views ( < 150% ). I meant the double click in that area ...
