enabling transitions

I am using evince 2.22.x in Ubuntu 8.04.1. I could not find any way to have the much touted opengl transitions in presentation mode. How do I use this? Could not find anything in the menus, gconf keys, and there is no preferences dialog. My hardware (intel i915) is opengl capable.
