support of synctex

Is the support of synctex (=inverse search between TeX and PDF) planned
in the near future?

FEW CONSIDERATIONS:
For people using LaTeX this is currently one major drawback of the GNOME
desktop compared to KDE (and MacOS of course).
KDE has at least KILE and KDVI supporting TeX dvi inverse search;
moreover it seems that OKULAR will support synctex.
In GNOME the standard LaTeX editor TEXMAKER suggests to do not use dvi
inverse search! Of course you can set it up with geany(emacs)+xdvi.
But a user-friendly nice-looking solution is really far!
