Reported <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=441848>, resolved, and closed with an update to gnome-desktop.
But the vulnerability to a broken X server is a flaw in Evince, so I've also suggested <http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=526972> that EV_SIZING_BEST_FIT and EV_SIZING_FIT_WIDTH should mean just that, ignoring dpi issues.
Best, and again, congrats on a really fine app! Peter
