bookmarks.rdf query

Hi there,

I am about to write a small application which allows the posting of
bookmarks via XMPP messages, online interface to bookmarks etc.

I was considering using the same format as Epiphany for ease of
synchronisation with Epiphany.

I am unclear as to why in the bookmarks file bookmarks appear twice;
once near the top in <items>, and then lower down with their metadata.
Is there a document somewhere which describes the file, or would
generally reading up on RDF explain the format?
