Let's try this again:

Odd problem... try going through the program's menu and look for
anything with "P" as a shortcut key. If there is such a thing, press
Backspace to remove that shortcut key or type in a sensible new one
with that menu item highlighted. (If you can't change it, go to System
-> Preferences -> Appearance and look under the Interface tab).
