Speaking of which, do we have any nice examples / articles on creating
extensions which add items to the toolbar? That aspect is very
powerful, very important for extensions, yet seem completely
undocumented. There do not seem to be many good example extensions
which do it, either, in C or Python. In a roundabout sort of way, such
documentation could improve the interface!
