Sadly not, as gnome-vfs is compiled without howl support (due to
licensing issues). However it is fairly easy to re-build it with howl
support:
$ sudo apt-get install build-essential libhowl-dev fakeroot
$ sudo apt-get build-dep gnome-vfs2
$ apt-get source gnome-vfs2
$ cd gnome-vfs2-2.12.0
Then edit debian/rules to remove the "--disable-howl".
Finally
$ fakeroot dpkg-buildpackage
$ sudo dpkg -i ../libgnomevfs2-0_2.12.0-0ubuntu1_i386.deb
