I dont think mainteinance cost is worth the number of people will
benefit of it. So I agree.

I think we should do this with bookmarks toolbars. I think the current
active tab should be "overwritten" and the others opened near it. This
is consistent also with dnd behavior.

I much more doubious about "overwriting" all tabs. Even assuming it's
intuitive it's not hard to click the item by mistake and lose content of
all your tabs.
(Anyone with access to safari knows how it works there exactly ?)

I think the patch Christian is working on is ok. (ask when user filled a
form).

I tend to think this should be at least consistent with address bar.
Though in this case double click -> select word could be more useful.

So I dont think we should do autoselect unless we do it for address
entry. IHMO the alternatives are double click select all/keep it as is.
