Do you see a 'Tools' menu? If you hold down the middle mouse button,
does your mouse pointer turn into a pen? Can you go 'View -> Block
Popups from this site'?

If not, 3 pieces of advice:

1. You've got to be using Epiphany 1.1.8. If you're using 1.0 these
things won't work.
2. Make sure you compiled and installed to the same --prefix as Epiphany.
3. Run Epiphany from the command-line and send us all your output. If
nothing really changed in the UI, there should be some error messages to
describe why.
