Our next Friends of GNOME campaign

Number of subscribers instead of a total dollar amount

Launch date:
November 9th, right after the Boston Summit

End date:
December 31st

Goal:
400 subscribers (We currently have about 100.)

Slogan:
Contribute to GNOME. Make a hackfest happen.

Referals:
We'd like to be able to track who referred people. We could give ads and individuals a code and be able to tell how many people the referred.

Dates: We decided to launch around the time frame of the Boston Summit so we could work on the campaign at the Summit. There will be a BOF and many of the marketing team and the sys admin team will be there. Some of the promotion pieces, like a video, may come later.

Promotion/advertising:
Ads or articles on different media through a good press message (think slashdot, linux.com, but also paper magazines, (internet) radio)
Short videos:
* campaign and a message about GNOME3. Do an animation one. Ask the Blender Foundation for help. TheOnlyJoey will work on this.
* film developers at Boston Summit about how great it is to meet others at hackfests. jclinton will take the lead on this one. Asking J5 for possible options for lights.

New tshirt:
"I contributed to GNOME. I made a hackfest happen."
TheOnlyJoey will work with the art team.

Subscription types:
Monthly, get a tshirt at the end of the first year.
Yearly, get your tshirt immediately.

Poster for hackfests:
A poster to be displayed at hackfests to remind people to blog about the hackfest.

IRC Meeting Log (Times in MST.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(09:00:13 PM) stormy: Good evening, everyone!
(09:00:28 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hey stormy
(09:00:50 PM) stormy: hey, TheOnlyJoey!
(09:00:57 PM) TheOnlyJoey: wow its 5AM sharp here :) nice
(09:01:06 PM) stormy: Thanks for getting up early.
(09:01:41 PM) stormy: The agenda for today's meeting is our next Friends of GNOME campaign.
(09:01:59 PM) stormy: We want to target # of subscribers instead of a total dollar amount.
(09:02:02 PM) TheOnlyJoey: (i did not get up early, i did not sleep yet)
(09:02:18 PM) stormy: I hope you get some sleep soon then!
(09:02:40 PM) TheOnlyJoey: haha after the meeting :)
(09:02:48 PM) stormy: I thought we could use this time to talk about what the campaign could look like, make some decisions and figure out what is needed.
(09:03:07 PM) jclinton: I filed the sysadmin tracking bugs: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=632623 and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=632622
(09:04:02 PM) stormy: I would like to expand https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=632622
(09:04:10 PM) stormy: To be able to track referrals from any where.
(09:04:28 PM) stormy: It would be great if we could give people a code and then be able to tell how many people the referred.
(09:04:40 PM) jclinton: k
(09:04:41 PM) stormy: Or to tell how many people came from which add.
(09:04:46 PM) stormy: Thanks for filing those!
(09:05:29 PM) stormy: I think our time frame is from whenever we get launched until Dec 31st.
(09:05:37 PM) stormy: Maybe we should set a goal of getting launched by Nov 1st?
(09:06:34 PM) stormy: And we need a goal.
(09:06:43 PM) stormy: Right now we have about a 100 subscribers.
(09:06:45 PM) jclinton: If we don't make that, I'm sure some sysadmins will be at the Summit and we could work through blockers then.
(09:06:59 PM) stormy: Good idea.
(09:07:12 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hmm, i do think we need enough time to be able to start a promotion campain
(09:07:16 PM) stormy: We can also launch without all the pieces and add "features" as we get them.
(09:07:39 PM) jclinton: True; I will add a BoF session idea for Friend of GNOME to the Summit page, now.
(09:07:45 PM) stormy: thanks, jclinton
(09:07:54 PM) stormy: TheOnlyJoey, what is involved in a promotion campaign?
(09:07:59 PM) stormy: from your perspective?
(09:09:34 PM) TheOnlyJoey: Ads or articles on different media through a good press message (think slashdot, linux.com, but also paper magazines, (internet) radio) maybe through a short video or such
(09:09:59 PM) TheOnlyJoey: letting people know it is there
(09:10:00 PM) jclinton: done: http://live.gnome.org/Boston2010/SessionProposals
(09:10:01 PM) stormy: I think we have a lot of places to put ads.
(09:10:06 PM) stormy: So it's developing them ...
(09:10:15 PM) stormy: Can you take the lead on making sure that happens, TheOnlyJoey?
(09:10:24 PM) jclinton: pcutler, ping
(09:10:58 PM) TheOnlyJoey: pcutler: ah good i will attend then
(09:11:04 PM) TheOnlyJoey: jclinton: sorry ment for you -_-
(09:11:46 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: i am not aware of how the marketing and press gets done normaly since i am quite new, but if someone can show me around its no problem
(09:12:00 PM) stormy: Joe Brockmeier can help with press.
(09:12:07 PM) stormy: I can help with places that have offered ads.
(09:12:13 PM) stormy: I'm happy to help you.
(09:12:24 PM) TheOnlyJoey: i am sure that the foundation has build a decent Media Partner list, the best way is to "exploit" it
(09:12:25 PM) stormy: But if you are in charge, you can make sure it happens and push me. :)
(09:12:38 PM) stormy: Zonker and I have lists.
(09:12:43 PM) TheOnlyJoey: great
(09:12:49 PM) stormy: We also need a goal.
(09:12:55 PM) stormy: We have around 100 subscribers now.
(09:13:04 PM) stormy: How many do we want to target.
(09:13:06 PM) stormy: ?
(09:13:14 PM) stormy: I'd love to say 500 but that feels really ambitious.
(09:13:16 PM) TheOnlyJoey: before what time?
(09:13:21 PM) stormy: The goal is the number we'll put on the ruler.
(09:13:23 PM) TheOnlyJoey: because that is what you are talking about
(09:13:24 PM) stormy: Dec 31st.
(09:13:27 PM) TheOnlyJoey: ah ok
(09:13:35 PM) jclinton: I think 300 is more achievable.
(09:13:36 PM) TheOnlyJoey: how many foundation members are there?
(09:13:40 PM) stormy: (Unless people think we should use a different time line.)
(09:13:41 PM) stormy: 400
(09:13:42 PM) jclinton: A lot of people already have LWN subscriptions.
(09:13:48 PM) stormy: But I think the target should be users, not developers.
(09:13:57 PM) jclinton: Hum, good point.
(09:13:59 PM) TheOnlyJoey: because the LWN is for a wider audience then Foundation members
(09:14:08 PM) TheOnlyJoey: so, with good marketing, 500 should be possible
(09:14:12 PM) stormy: Agreed. The LWN subscription should be one draw but supporting GNOME should be the main reason.
(09:14:13 PM) jclinton: Ok, 400. Did you want another sysadmin-like progress bar?
(09:14:19 PM) stormy: Yes.
(09:14:32 PM) stormy: lucasr offered to help w/ that if we give him numbers and text
(09:14:46 PM) stormy: We can put it on the top of gnome.org and pgo again.
(09:14:49 PM) jclinton: Ok; do you think we need a tracking ticket or is pinging him enough?
(09:14:58 PM) stormy: a ticket is probably a good idea
(09:15:07 PM) jclinton: opening now
(09:15:13 PM) stormy: you're great :)
(09:15:27 PM) stormy: Then we need a slogan.
(09:16:12 PM) stormy: FYI on the users vs developers, 95% of the people that filled out our Friends of GNOME survey gave money because they didn't have time or money to contribute technically.
(09:16:38 PM) stormy: Slogan ...
(09:16:44 PM) stormy: I think it should talk about supporting GNOME
(09:16:49 PM) stormy: And staying connected (GNOME/LWN)
(09:16:54 PM) stormy: and being part of the community
(09:16:59 PM) stormy: All in a couple of words. :)
(09:17:03 PM) TheOnlyJoey: what is the LWN site again?
(09:17:14 PM) stormy: It's a technical news/discussion site.
(09:17:21 PM) stormy: Very popular among our community.
(09:17:21 PM) jclinton: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=632624
(09:17:26 PM) TheOnlyJoey: sorry the link i ment
(09:17:29 PM) stormy: Very techie type news
(09:17:31 PM) stormy: lwn.net
(09:18:19 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hmm.. i think i have seen it, but the way the site is themed scares me off a little
(09:18:20 PM) jclinton: "Friend GNOME"
(09:18:35 PM) TheOnlyJoey: it does not look like a "site for users"
(09:18:36 PM) jclinton: ... play on social networking
(09:19:01 PM) jclinton: yea the LWN draw would be a techie thing
(09:19:11 PM) stormy: Maybe a "join GNOME" type theme?
(09:19:16 PM) stormy: Oh, I see.
(09:19:21 PM) stormy: Friend GNOME is cool.
(09:19:36 PM) jclinton: "Friend GNOME, join Friends of GNOME"
(09:19:37 PM) stormy: But I think anyone who knows enough to go support GNOME financially is likely to be somewhat technical.
(09:20:44 PM) jclinton: I love the idea that my money would support hackfests
(09:20:46 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: does not have to be, i know a lot of "users" that like gnome, and asked me about donations when i joined the marketing group, and they are all just end users
(09:20:54 PM) jclinton: maybe we could play off of that
(09:21:14 PM) TheOnlyJoey: maybe it should be clear what the intention is, what you are actually supporting
(09:21:17 PM) TheOnlyJoey: straight to the point
(09:21:40 PM) TheOnlyJoey: cause what IS the intention of this
(09:21:45 PM) stormy: we can accept paypal donations to hackfests gnome org
(09:21:47 PM) jclinton: Is "Help fund GNOME Hackfests" too vague?
(09:21:50 PM) stormy: (need to double check the email)
(09:22:09 PM) stormy: what do you mean by intention? Like what the money would be spent on?
(09:22:23 PM) stormy: I would avoid the word "fund"
(09:22:30 PM) TheOnlyJoey: thats true
(09:22:34 PM) stormy: Some thing like "make them happen"
(09:23:01 PM) stormy: Contibute to GNOME development. Help make a hackfest happen.
(09:23:07 PM) TheOnlyJoey: "Spreak the GNOME Hackfests Now!"? or is that to cliche
(09:23:29 PM) jclinton: Spreak?
(09:23:30 PM) TheOnlyJoey: Spread*
(09:23:37 PM) jclinton: ah
(09:23:41 PM) TheOnlyJoey: sorry.. being awake for quite a while
(09:23:47 PM) jclinton: Contibute to GNOME development. Help make a hackfest happen.
(09:23:48 PM) TheOnlyJoey: takes its toll
(09:23:51 PM) jclinton: I love that.
(09:24:25 PM) stormy: OR
(09:24:34 PM) stormy: Contribute to GNOME code. Help make a hackfest happen.
(09:24:38 PM) stormy: I like development better.
(09:24:56 PM) jclinton: Yes, because it's more encompassing.
(09:24:57 PM) TheOnlyJoey: It reads quite well, but its not so easy to pronounce (the "help make a hackfest bit"
(09:25:09 PM) stormy: We could say fund.
(09:25:14 PM) stormy: But it sounds stuffy to me.
(09:25:19 PM) diegoe: maybe a reduced version of the FoG message about "what we did with your money last time" (regarding hackfests)
(09:25:20 PM) stormy: How about without help.
(09:25:29 PM) stormy: Contribute to GNOME development. Make a hackfest happen.
(09:25:47 PM) TheOnlyJoey: Its more to the point that way, love it
(09:25:55 PM) jclinton: Yep; nail it, stormy.
(09:25:59 PM) TheOnlyJoey: :)
(09:26:05 PM) jclinton: nailed it, even.
(09:26:08 PM) ***stormy is a bit worry she's coming up with the slogan when she has a hard time naming pets.
(09:26:27 PM) diegoe: stormy, new pet?
(09:26:29 PM) jclinton: meh; it's impulse. slogans come and go.
(09:26:35 PM) stormy: But I like that it implies that they are contributing code.
(09:27:01 PM) jclinton: +1
(09:27:01 PM) stormy: No, no new pets right now. But I help name lots of things from fish to stuffed animals to random birds. :)
(09:27:34 PM) stormy: TheOnlyJoey, do you think it will appeal at all to the interested users you were talking about.
(09:27:39 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: could you email the people i need to contact for the promotion btw? and maybe a link to the list of media partners so i can see more specific
(09:27:50 PM) stormy: yes, will tomorrow work?
(09:28:07 PM) TheOnlyJoey: great :)
(09:28:18 PM) stormy: So we have a slogan?
(09:28:22 PM) jclinton: Okay I guess we are in agreement on the slogan.
(09:28:23 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hmm i think it speaks to a lot of people
(09:28:25 PM) stormy: Or at least one to run by the marketing list?
(09:28:27 PM) jclinton: Email that to lucasr?
(09:28:38 PM) jclinton: Sure; then we can CC lucasr upon agreement.
(09:28:39 PM) stormy: yeah, with the 400 number.
(09:28:49 PM) stormy: He's on the marketing list.
(09:28:58 PM) jclinton: great
(09:29:03 PM) stormy: Next I have a new tshirt.
(09:29:09 PM) stormy: right now we have the green Friends of GNOME one.
(09:29:17 PM) stormy: Do we want a new one to match this campaign?
(09:29:35 PM) stormy: Something like "I contributed to GNOME. I made a hackfest happen."
(09:29:42 PM) stormy: Perhaps the art team could help a bit there.
(09:29:47 PM) TheOnlyJoey: That would be great
(09:29:49 PM) jclinton: Yes, would love that.
(09:29:53 PM) stormy: Oh, another "feature" we want is the ability to subscribe for a year.
(09:29:56 PM) jclinton: Exactly as written.
(09:30:10 PM) TheOnlyJoey: if you want to, i can help with a mockup of the design?
(09:30:15 PM) jclinton: Is subscription forever, currently?
(09:30:16 PM) TheOnlyJoey: love to get my hands into GIMP
(09:30:23 PM) stormy: Yes, the subscription goes on forever.
(09:30:32 PM) stormy: But many people want to pay annually.
(09:30:42 PM) stormy: I think if they pay annually, we could send a tshirt out immediately.
(09:30:48 PM) stormy: Right now we make them wait a year.
(09:30:56 PM) jclinton: Ok; filing bug.
(09:30:57 PM) stormy: I think the gratification needs to be more instantaneous.
(09:31:01 PM) stormy: thanks, jclinton
(09:31:08 PM) stormy: Should I file one on the tshirt?
(09:31:09 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: do you have a design file of the previous shirt? i can create a mockup if you want to
(09:31:23 PM) stormy: TheOnlyJoey, best to work with andreasn on that.
(09:31:29 PM) stormy: I believe he designed the last one.
(09:32:01 PM) TheOnlyJoey: sure!
(09:32:28 PM) TheOnlyJoey: btw.. i guess someone is taking notes and emailing everything to the list afterwards?
(09:32:36 PM) TheOnlyJoey: (just making sure)
(09:32:54 PM) stormy: Hmm, maybe you can't file a bug on the art team ...
(09:33:05 PM) stormy: TheOnlyJoey, you want to take that one too? And work with andreasn?
(09:33:24 PM) TheOnlyJoey: the tshirt design? sure!
(09:33:30 PM) jclinton: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=632625
(09:33:37 PM) stormy: Yes, I will send out some kind of minutes.
(09:33:54 PM) stormy: How about a reward to people that refer the most people, assuming we get that set up?
(09:35:00 PM) stormy: Maybe we could highlight the highest referrer in the ruler some how?
(09:35:02 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: maybe setting a goal for the first to refer a certain number of people to be sponsored to a hackfest?
(09:35:09 PM) stormy: But I seem to remember we were short on space in the ruler.
(09:35:23 PM) stormy: Or to the event of their choice?
(09:35:25 PM) stormy: I like that.
(09:35:30 PM) TheOnlyJoey: :)
(09:35:45 PM) jclinton: Makes sense.
(09:35:59 PM) TheOnlyJoey: just make that person someone with priority @the travel team
(09:36:16 PM) stormy: We have budget for it.
(09:36:23 PM) stormy: FYI, we have a marketing budget that we didn't spend this year.
(09:36:23 PM) TheOnlyJoey: great
(09:36:29 PM) stormy: My bad for not making that more visible.
(09:36:38 PM) TheOnlyJoey: oh ok
(09:36:50 PM) TheOnlyJoey: that opens up a lot of opertunity's
(09:37:00 PM) TheOnlyJoey: (now i get the before dec 31 part)
(09:38:00 PM) stormy: What about the 12/31 part?
(09:38:24 PM) TheOnlyJoey: is that deadline because of the budget?
(09:38:29 PM) stormy: Nope.
(09:38:30 PM) TheOnlyJoey: or just a preset
(09:38:34 PM) TheOnlyJoey: ah ok
(09:38:44 PM) stormy: We just picked it during a conversation because it's easy to run an end of the year campaign - at least in the US.
(09:38:51 PM) TheOnlyJoey: true
(09:38:53 PM) stormy: People look for tax breaks, it's Christmas time, etc.
(09:39:13 PM) stormy: Last thing I have (and I'm sure there's more) ...
(09:39:16 PM) stormy: how to advertise
(09:39:22 PM) stormy: We talked about ads and press contacts.
(09:39:31 PM) stormy: We also have referrals.
(09:39:34 PM) stormy: And we can all blog.
(09:39:36 PM) stormy: Other ideas?
(09:39:47 PM) stormy: A badge for # of referrals you've made for your blog?
(09:39:51 PM) stormy: Would people do that?
(09:40:55 PM) TheOnlyJoey: i would love doing something with a short video, that includes the campaign and a message about GNOME3 (could be combined quite well), if that is posible?
(09:41:12 PM) stormy: That'd be awesome.
(09:41:16 PM) stormy: How would we distribute it.
(09:41:18 PM) stormy: ?
(09:41:33 PM) TheOnlyJoey: something that is to the point, but also quite accessible
(09:41:52 PM) TheOnlyJoey: Youtube and other streaming video sites.. include it with the press message to the media partners
(09:41:59 PM) stormy: ok
(09:42:20 PM) stormy: sounds good
(09:42:22 PM) TheOnlyJoey: Oh something that always work
(09:42:38 PM) jclinton: A badge would be hard.
(09:42:50 PM) jclinton: Filming something at Summit would actually be easier, oddly.
(09:42:52 PM) TheOnlyJoey: is doing something with animation of some sort, i could contact the Blender Foundation for a short animation?
(09:42:58 PM) stormy: jclinton, then lets skip the badge
(09:43:11 PM) stormy: I can't imagine any one person referring so many that they'd want to display the number either ...
(09:43:33 PM) jclinton: If we can get some geeks to talk about how great it is meet other developers to get work done, that would be perfect.
(09:43:36 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: numbers are only interesting starting with 100 and above
(09:43:56 PM) stormy: And I think I'd be happy if I referred in the 10s.
(09:44:02 PM) stormy: I can't imagine getting a 100 friends to sign up.
(09:44:12 PM) stormy: Not people that didn't already know a lot of other GNOME folks too.
(09:44:24 PM) stormy: jclinton, I think we can find a few of those geeks at the Boston Summit. :)
(09:44:40 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hmm there are 2 approaches to work with.. something personal like jason is talking about, or something more accessible for a wider audience
(09:45:05 PM) TheOnlyJoey: i still am thinking about the kind of people we want to attract to be honest
(09:45:58 PM) jclinton: Well I'm all for high production value if we have the time and resources
(09:45:59 PM) stormy: People that use GNOME, that understand its free software and would like to help but can't contribute technically at the moment.
(09:46:08 PM) stormy: high production value?
(09:46:16 PM) jclinton: animations
(09:46:37 PM) jclinton: filming people talking is certainly on the low end
(09:46:59 PM) TheOnlyJoey: like i said before, it could make quite a impact if you combine the whole publicity project with a little GNOME3 marketing
(09:47:15 PM) jclinton: i agree; if you can line up the resources, let's do that
(09:47:26 PM) TheOnlyJoey: since one promotes the progress of GNOME, and the other the actual upcomming project
(09:47:40 PM) TheOnlyJoey: upcoming product*
(09:47:40 PM) stormy: ok, TheOnlyJoey, can I assign you another one? Talking to Blender?
(09:47:59 PM) stormy: And jclinton, I think if we can get good footage at the Boston Summit, we should.
(09:48:06 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: i could contact Ton Roosendaal if he is up for the project
(09:48:24 PM) stormy: cool!
(09:48:25 PM) stormy: thanks
(09:48:36 PM) stormy: Any other ways we should promote?
(09:48:39 PM) jclinton: stormy, I will have my DSLR there so we can record.
(09:48:41 PM) stormy: Any other things we should discuss?
(09:48:59 PM) stormy: jclinton, do we need anything else? Screens, lights, ...?
(09:49:24 PM) jclinton: stormy, work lamps would be super helpful but not necessary
(09:49:32 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: poster and flyers to include in the GNOME Booth?
(09:49:36 PM) jclinton: stormy, like the kind you would use in your garage to work on a car
(09:50:01 PM) stormy: ok, I'll ask the Boston/MIT folks
(09:50:09 PM) stormy: posters and flyers is a great idea
(09:50:10 PM) jclinton: (no one at the Summit will have gotten there by car so it will be hard to ask people to bring things)
(09:50:13 PM) TheOnlyJoey: so every hackfest has the "promote the hackfest" flyers and such
(09:50:21 PM) stormy: Maybe MIT has some?
(09:50:30 PM) jclinton: certainly possible
(09:50:32 PM) stormy: No, I think it should be general for all hackfests
(09:50:37 PM) stormy: Not for each individual one
(09:50:42 PM) jclinton: i think j5 mentions something about this space being media lab related
(09:50:49 PM) stormy: Some we know about way in advance but many happen quickly
(09:50:53 PM) stormy: Yeah, it's the media lab
(09:50:56 PM) jclinton: a poster reminding people to blog about the hackfest would be good
(09:51:12 PM) jclinton: that could be generic and reusable
(09:51:15 PM) stormy: a poster for the Boston Summit or to send to hackfests?
(09:51:28 PM) jclinton: any hackfest, Summit included
(09:51:33 PM) jclinton: GUADEC excluded
(09:51:43 PM) jclinton: i will mail J5
(09:51:45 PM) TheOnlyJoey: Posters with the same slogan works always
(09:51:48 PM) jclinton: about lamps
(09:52:20 PM) stormy: ok, although electronic/virtual reminders are easier to get there
(09:52:33 PM) stormy: thanks, jclinton
(09:52:41 PM) stormy: walter bender is our contact for getting the rooms too
(09:52:45 PM) stormy: j5 worked with him
(09:52:56 PM) stormy: Anything else for the campaign?
(09:53:13 PM) stormy: I will write up a summary of everything for the marketing list.
(09:53:37 PM) stormy: Thanks very much, jclinton, TheOnlyJoey, diegoe and all the lurkers!
(09:53:38 PM) TheOnlyJoey: stormy: it would be wise to see if there is a budget avalible before i contact Ton
(09:53:56 PM) stormy: A budget is a possibility.
(09:54:25 PM) stormy: So assume there might be funds available.
(09:54:44 PM) TheOnlyJoey: good
(09:55:01 PM) jclinton: email to J5 sent
(09:55:10 PM) TheOnlyJoey: i do think, because of the nature of both foundations, that donation base of both sides would work the best
(09:56:26 PM) stormy: See what you can work out ... I know videos of that type are a lot of work.
(09:56:43 PM) stormy: Any other topics we should discuss tonight/morning. (Although I think its' really still night for TheOnlyJoey too!)
(09:56:45 PM) stormy: ?
(09:56:51 PM) ***stormy is ? challenged tonigth
(09:57:01 PM) stormy: Going
(09:57:03 PM) stormy: ... going
(09:57:06 PM) stormy: ....... gone
(09:57:16 PM) TheOnlyJoey: lol
(09:57:28 PM) stormy: Again, thanks so much TheOnlyJoey, jclinton and diegoe!
(09:57:29 PM) TheOnlyJoey: btw.. is there a dealine for the the promotional campain?
(09:57:48 PM) stormy: No, the fundraising campaign runs until 12/31 so whatever makes sense.
(09:58:11 PM) TheOnlyJoey: i do think it is useful to set a date
(09:58:14 PM) stormy: I will write up notes tomorrow and send to the marketing list. And I will be around tomorrow after a few hours of sleep tonight.
(09:58:52 PM) TheOnlyJoey: since it is useless to have a campaign, and the promotion starts a week before the end of it
(09:59:13 PM) stormy: I think it should start as close to the launch of the campaign as possible.
(09:59:18 PM) stormy: By the Boston Summit at the latest.
(09:59:40 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hmm so that is quite short to create the video
(09:59:49 PM) stormy: I don't think it all needs to start at once.
(09:59:58 PM) stormy: But part of our promotion needs to start then.
(10:00:13 PM) stormy: We can also reach out to journalists, place ads in magazines and Google adwords, blog, etc.
(10:00:16 PM) TheOnlyJoey: it is a good idea to start with the press anouncement, and include the video with it
(10:00:28 PM) stormy: I don't think we should wait that long.
(10:00:47 PM) TheOnlyJoey: hmm.. how about a month from now for the last couple of things?
(10:01:00 PM) stormy: And we'll launch with something by the Boston Summit?
(10:01:15 PM) stormy: A month from now would still give us a month in the campaign so I think that would work.
(10:01:38 PM) TheOnlyJoey: great, i will email Ton the first thing in the morning
(10:01:45 PM) stormy: cool, thanks!
(10:01:49 PM) stormy: Anything else?
(10:02:09 PM) stormy: Ok, I'm off to bed!
(10:02:12 PM) stormy: Good night all!
(10:02:14 PM) stormy: Thanks again!
