I've asked about this before, and was told that at one point in time the
GNOME foundation board was working on a deal with Zazzle, but I haven't
gotten anything solid back.

However, the issues never got fully resolved.  I'm pretty sure I responded
to a few of those messages off list asking for more information, and the
response I've gotten is that the board has looked into it, but nothing more.

Is there something else going on here?  Private discussions on
marketing-private or foundation-list?  This is actually a fairly serious
marketing oversight right now.
