No, there is nothing I can do about it. I've lost my laptop recently and
have other things going on in my life.
I though I would write this to you fellows in hopes that the devs might
make a release because Gentoo does not drop something 99% of the time
without good reason & ekiga will loose even more distros as they
progress in the dev cycle.

Hi David,
Thank you for sharing with us these bad but predictable news. I regret
that people spend time to fix bugs in Ekiga, but me too I have too many
things to do and cannot afford to spend much time on Ekiga anymore.
Some bugs are simple to fix, such as libresolv bug or
https://bugs.gentoo.org/626176#c1, and I can certainly collect or do
some fixes and commit them and make a new release 4.0.2 this week, if
someone is willing to help.
But fixing all problems in Ekiga takes too much effort; for example
updating to a new ptlib/opal version is unaffordable for me. The cause
is that new ptlib/opal 3.x releases make too many API changes for me to
keep track with. For example, the API for IM has changed, cf.
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=651837, it takes many hours
or a few tens of hours to make this change. Moreover, new ptlib/opal
releases create new bugs too (regressions), and it takes too much effort
to find them, reproduce and inform their developers to fix them.
Kind regards,
--
Eugen
